Aram Bajakian
Guitarist and composer. We played in the eight-piece band on Lou Reed’s 2011 European tour.
Aram Bajakian (born 1977) is an American guitarist and composer of Armenian descent, based in Vancouver since 2013, who has toured with Lou Reed, John Zorn, Diana Krall and Madeleine Peyroux. Marc Ribot introduced him to Zorn, who released his first album, Aram Bajakian’s Kef, on Tzadik in 2011; later records include Music Inspired by the Color of Pomegranates (2015) and, with Dálava, Understories (2025). He teaches at Simon Fraser University and is a PhD candidate in ethnomusicology at the University of British Columbia.

The 2011 European tour
By 2011 Lou was touring with eight people onstage, and he and Tony Diodore were the guitars, with me on Continuum and Kyma running multiple Pacas: the 2011 European tour, from Hop Farm on July 2 to Lyon on July 26. My road posts from that tour, the Hop Farm photos and the Carhaix clip, are the record of that band.
