Through the Brambles
A 360° VR film from Third Wall Studio, directed by Jacob McCoy and built inside Burlap.
Through the Brambles, directed by Jacob McCoy, is a VR story built entirely inside Burlap. Every scene began as a prompted 360° image, then became part of a single journey for headset playback. Gemini made the stills, Veo brought them to life, ElevenLabs handled narration, and Resolve held the edit and ambisonic mix. Third Wall Studio put it on YouTube on May 11, 2026, and it is also at thirdwallstudio.com/through-the-brambles, with a case study.

How it was made
The studio’s page on the film says:
Through the Brambles is a fully AI-generated VR narrative, designed for headset playback. Every frame and environment was created with Gemini’s image and video models, prompted as 360 degree equirectangular imagery and assembled into a continuous, immersive journey.
The piece came out of an ongoing exploration inside Burlap, an AI-native canvas workflow tool, where I was testing the edges of what current models could actually do. Equirectangular generation kept opening up — Nano Banana could produce consistent 360 stills, and Veo 3.1, with aggressive prompting, could hold that geometry together through motion. After some early experiments with shorter, gimmickier VR concepts, I wanted to see if the pipeline could carry a real narrative. A black rotary telephone on a table became the spatial anchor, holding the viewer’s orientation as the world shifts around them. ElevenLabs voiced the narration. Edit and ambisonics mix were finished in DaVinci Resolve.
Through the Brambles is an early attempt at narrative immersive work built entirely from prompts — a small proof that generative tools can carry storytelling weight inside a headset, not just spectacle.
