“Solsbury Hill”
“Solsbury Hill” is Lou Reed’s recording of the Peter Gabriel song for And I’ll Scratch Yours, the companion to Gabriel’s Scratch My Back, released on Real World Records in September 2013. Gabriel had covered Reed’s “The Power of the Heart” on his side of the exchange; Reed returned Gabriel’s 1977 song. I produced it and played electronics on it. Track eleven, five minutes twenty-four.

Made in the years I was in Lou Reed’s band and working with him on Lulu. The electronics are the same work I did on stage, through Kyma.
The exchangeGabriel’s Scratch My Back, 2010, covered twelve artists including Reed. Each was invited to cover Gabriel in return; the returns became And I’ll Scratch Yours, 2013.

Lou's approach to the song was amazing, super simple, guitar and voice with a minimal beat he programmed first. He brought me in help with the mix and the percussion crescendo at the end.
