Hidden Books, Hidden Stories was Lou Reed’s pavilion at the New York Photo Festival in Dumbo, Brooklyn, May 12 to 16, 2010. Its slideshow ran at St. Ann’s Warehouse, mixed and authored by Daniel Power in FotoMagico, and the festival put it on Vimeo on May 19, 2010: fifteen and a half minutes. The upload’s tags name me alongside Lou, Daniel Power and St. Ann’s: the music under it is the tai chi meditation music Lou and I made together, the first thing we ever worked on, on sale that July on Master Ren Guangyi’s DVD Power and Serenity.

It was two weeks before Vivid LIVE in Sydney, the festival Lou and Laurie Anderson curated that same spring.

The slideshow

Vogue Italia described the pavilion on May 17, 2010 as an installation of book boxes and beloved books. The slideshow is the part that survives online: the New York Photo Festival’s own upload, which the festival brought back in a 2012 post as a flashback to its 2010 edition, and which Boinx, the makers of FotoMagico, wrote up the week it went up.
