# “Solsbury Hill”

“Solsbury Hill” is [Lou Reed](/conspirators/lou-reed/)’s recording of the Peter Gabriel song for *And I’ll Scratch Yours*, the companion to Gabriel’s *Scratch My Back*, released on Real World Records in September 2013. Gabriel had covered Reed’s “The Power of the Heart” on his side of the exchange; Reed returned Gabriel’s 1977 song. I produced it and played electronics on it. Track eleven, five minutes twenty-four.

## Conspiracies

Made in the years I was in [Lou Reed’s band](/conspiracies/lou-reed-song-band/) and working with him on [*Lulu*](/conspiracies/lulu/). The electronics are the same work I did on stage, through [Kyma](/devices/).

The exchange: Gabriel’s *Scratch My Back*, 2010, covered twelve artists including Reed. Each was invited to cover Gabriel in return; the returns became *And I’ll Scratch Yours*, 2013.

The credit is mine. Discogs lists the track and its length.

Lou's approach to the song was amazing, super simple, guitar and voice with a minimal beat he programmed first. He brought me in help with the mix and the percussion crescendo at the end.
