# Alex Wyly

The artist of *The Book of Sarth*, credited as Alex Smith and thanked as Elik Smith. Now a designer of textiles and home furnishings.

[Alexander Wyly](https://www.alexwyly.com) is the artist of *The Book of Sarth* (2012), credited on The Gralbum Collective’s title page as Alex Smith: “Art and Story: Alex Smith,” alongside illustrations by Tom Hall and [Archie P. Valdez](/conspirators/archie-p-valdez/). [Marc Urselli](/conspirators/marc-urselli/)’s review in Chain D.L.K. described the artwork as passing through several styles, from soft cartoon images to stylised vector work, treated black-and-white photographs and, by the epilogue, pixellated, almost art deco paintings. He now designs textiles and home furnishings, pillows, rugs, fabrics and wallcoverings, under his own name and as the brand [ALWY](https://www.wayfair.com/brand/bnd/alwy-b42123.html).

## Book of Sarth

He drew [Book of Sarth](/conspiracies/book-of-sarth/), my first full-length solo release, two and a half years in the making. He is the second of the four people I thanked when it was finished, by the name I knew him by then: Elik Smith is a genius.
