# Adam Matta

Beatboxer, visual artist and animator. His *Sketches* was one of the first gralbums.

Adam Matta is a human beatboxer and vocal performance artist from New York who has performed with Bobby McFerrin at Carnegie Hall and headlined the 2009 UK Human Beatbox Convention. He joined the [Carolina Chocolate Drops](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carolina_Chocolate_Drops) in 2011 and plays beatbox and tambourine on their Grammy-nominated *Leaving Eden* (2012). His work has been featured on NPR and in the documentary *Planet B-Boy*; he also paints and makes stop-motion animation.

## Sketches

*Sketches* was one of the five titles at the launch of [The Gralbum Collective](/conspiracies/gralbum-collective/) on April 9, 2014: one song, “Cellophane,” in which every sound is his unaltered voice, with 25 of his paintings and two stop-motion animations. He and [Bora Yoon](/conspirators/bora-yoon/) played the downstairs stage at the launch with me.
